This weeks recipe is "Bee Stings", sweet and tender brioche-style buns filled with pastry cream and then dipped in honey caramel and then sprinkled with almonds.
This weeks recipe was chosen by Jaime of Good Eats and Sweet Treats.
I really had a hard time getting the dough to rise. This was my second batch. She says use the egg and sour cream at room temperature. I did that but with the second batch , I heated the milk and butter and then when added to the yeast and it rose.
Here you see it rising.
The buns only took 15 minutes to bake instead of the
suggested 30 and then they were kinda dark.

But after they were filled with the vanilla pastry cream
and dipped int the Honey Carmel Glaze
they were delicious!
I didn't use the almonds because my girls didn't want me too.

I don't think I would make this again unless I just bake it the same day.
It took too many steps and I had a busy week and really didn't have time to wait for the second day and the second rise. Mine was actually in the refrigerator for two days.
My family did love them and they were delicious!
Thanks Jaime for choosing this week.

I didn't have trouble with my rise, but it seemed like seconds before mine were burning on the bottom! Thus, they're not that golden on top... however, they're yummy, so I'm not complaining too much! :) Nice job!
thanks for baking along with me!! great job
Yours looks wonderful. I wasn't able to bake this week, but after reading the comments from the bakers that tackled this recipe, I'd say that I'm in for a big challenge when I do decide to make these. I'm glad that you all made the cream and the family enjoy the Bee Stings.
OOH they look delicious! I had trouble getting it to rise, too! I'm glad yours were successful the second time around!
These were really tricky - my dough didn't cooperate either! Yours look terrific :)
Great job, that pastry cream looks super-yummy! I agree, they were good, but I probably wouldn't bother again.
When DO you girls find the time to bake??
I had 5 grandbabies (6,3,2,1,& 2 mths.) at my house all weekend. Even though their moms were here too, I am absolulely totally exchausted!!
They look delicious!
At least they tasted good! That last photo with the cream coming out looks so good and tasty!
Beautiful :D
